100% cage-free eggs at IKEA Belgium by 2020

At IKEA, we want our business to have a positive impact on people, animals and the planet.

IKEA Belgium has already been sourcing only cage-free eggs for years. On global level, IKEA Food Services AB is making good progress towards achieving the commitment to only source free-range eggs (with cage-free eggs as an intermediary step) for fresh, whole and liquid eggs in over 400 IKEA stores in 49 countries from end of August 2020 on.

When it comes to eggs that are used as an ingredient in the IKEA Food products, such as food items sold in the Swedish Food Market as part of the global range, cage-free eggs are used for the vast majority of products. IKEA Food Services AB will, together with its suppliers, continue to phase out caged production in the IKEA Food supply chain to close the remaining gap.

IKEA Belgium sells more than 1000 food items in the IKEA restaurant, bistro and Swedish Food Market of the 8 Belgian stores. Around 800 items are sourced locally. We have guarantees from our suppliers that all eggs used are cage-free or free-range eggs. Almost 300 food items sold in Belgium come from the IKEA Food global range. For only 4 products, we are not guaranteed that cage-free eggs are used.

IKEA Food is working to phase out caged production in the IKEA Food supply chain, to close the remaining gap by end of August 2020.
